A subject about which I am passionate! Love this, love you, and love to they/them. The current political climate is hard to understand but let’s continue to do our best with preferred pronouns and, if need be, offering shelter if things get even dumber and uglier.

This is lovely, Rich! There can be a sense of loss for parents and family members when a child uses new pronouns and/or names. It's okay to feel that loss and good to acknowledge those feelings so that you can best support your loved one.

Thanks Robin. Last year a friend told me about his and his wife's journey with their daughter as she moved through this transition. I needed to put myself in his shoes to try and understand what it might feel like, at least as best I could. This piece is the result!
