Most everybody's eyes are down these days, along the sidewalks and streets, mesmerized by something seemingly riveting on their screens. Maybe they're distracted by the latest headlines or preoccupied by angst or haunted by the thousand other things on their minds.
There's another world out there, up above the fray, up where the fabled parrots squawk and swoop from tree to tree, uniquely adding to the neighborhood cacophony. Up where someone added a chicken, a duck and a dove, a whale, a snail and an alligator to the side of their home.
Up where someone else reminds us of a few fundamental truths: - we don't elect kings nor turn our back on our friends - we don't pass judgements before applying due process or making thoughtful assessments - we don't use retribution against those with differing opinions or beliefs - we don't cast aspersions due to someone's religion, nationality or color of their skin
But here we are. Look up, before that, too, is diluted and unrecognizable.
Hey Karen. Indeed, my dog and I have had several up close encounters with the coyotes that have a den on the side of the hill below the Potrero Rec Center. Very unnerving!
Wonderful! I often think about those who are so tuned out to their immediate surroundings. I actually passed another pedestrian on a narrow, twisted, steep Mt. Davidson sidewalk & she never looked up from her phone. I actually stepped out of her way so we wouldn't collide.
Was in S.F. recently. Weather was beautiful. Coyotes in abundance. Do you hear them over on Potrero Hill?
