What about when you wake up and don't see anything?
Like your eyes don't work, well, they work, but they don't see anything, well, nothing beyond your cup of coffee or the dry cleaning list. You look outside and the sunrise burns holes into your eye sockets and drills into your soul. You wince. You look around and see kids running down the street excited and laughing on their way to elementary school, hopefully running along a safe and promising path full of opportunities and affirmation, but you worry. You see neighbors walking their dogs and sweeping their sidewalks and moving their cars and just standing and talking, sharing and caring. Your eyes abide by a different schedule, like little kids, they awake each day wonderous and ready, open to whatever might come their way, big or small, hopeful that it's in the right direction and that you'll agree to go along. Your eyes burn for that promising path but what about those days when you don't see anything?
I love this one!
Nice! While hard to assess your eyesight from this side of the page, I see clearly your poetic insights are better than 20/20!
