How can I ever know what you see with those pained eyes?
How can I ever feel what it feels like to have skin that's black or brown? How can I better hear your pleas for equity, even after all these years? How can I understand how the color of their skin makes even the youngest child struggle with their self esteem?
Are we asking the right questions, questioning the right assumptions, aspiring to the right reconciliation, seeking the right end game? How is it we're still struggling with all this in a place founded 250 years ago on the principle we're all created equal?
Nothing makes any sense to me right now.
When empathy is weaponized by « leaders » it is incumbent on the rest of us to continue to fight for the rights of every single one of us.
