Everything & Everybody's Running
Maybe we need to stop running so much. Thoughts go out to everyone in Atlanta!
The toilet upstairs is always running. So is our neighbor but he’s running outside for a healthier life. The little kid down the street? His nose is always running, but he doesn’t care, he just wipes it clean with his sweatshirt sleeve.
The refrigerator is always running, thankfully, cause warm beer and warm cold cuts don’t cut it. Time is running, out, maybe that’s why Joe Biden and Donald Trump are running, again. They likely rightly figure it’s the last time, for them. Someone’s always running to the store, the grocery store, the drug store, the hardware store. If not, it’s the shop, the flower shop, the barber shop, the coffee shop, the bike shop, maybe a stop at the post office. Much less now, though, than before. Now much of that shopping and stopping is done without leaving our home, now someone else does all the running. Mostly the drivers from UPS or FedEx always running to the front door, leaving their truck running at the curb. Sadly, inevitably, incessantly, indescribably, unfathomably, all too routinely, someone with a gun is always running around, somewhere, everywhere, sending teachers and their students, healthcare providers, construction workers, neighbors and families running for their lives.
Maybe everybody needs to stop running so much.
