It’s not a good day to wear suede. Rain will stain the nappy finish of the vintage shirt my friend Billy gave me. It’s not a good day to wash the car. Rain will spot the top and the hood of my little Chevy. It’s not a good day to water the lawn and the roses. Rain will make that redundant and do a better job, soaking in more slowly and deeply, universally.
It’s not a good day to paint that picket fence. Rain will dampen the primer and it will never dry. It’s not a good day to walk the dog. Rain will soak her coat and make her smell like sweaty socks. It’s not a good day to wash this big picture window. Rain will streak it and leave it as dirty as before and it simply will need to be washed once more. No, it’s better today to keep sitting here, staring out the big window watching the dark clouds shift and roll and tumble by, listening to the rain race through the gutters and downspouts, watching the wind shake the trees and enjoy my tea. Thank you rain!
Rain & tea, you sound English
Yes, allow yourself that…enjoy this reason to sit and drink tea.
